……in a howling gale!!!
I decided today was the time to dust off my trusty stead of a bike. It was a lovely Easter Sunday on the Wirral, apart from an evil howling wind coming in off the Irish sea.
My intention was to try & get from New Brighton to Hoylake but by the time I got to Leasowe Lighthouse I was peddling like the clappers & nearly going backwards! So I turned my trusty steady round & flew back to New Brighton!
Excellent ride if a little too much like hard work!
It felt really good to be out in the ‘very’ fresh air & pushing my fitness levels up a notch.
It feels good to be getting back into the swing of training again & the chocolate egg tasted even better for it when I got home…oopps!

Went for my first circuit session at a brand new gym that’s opened up in Hoylake last Monday and weirdly enough totally loved it!
It’s not your typical gym, full of beautiful people jogging along on treadmills in their perfectly matching gym gear, it’s hardcore circuit training in the good company of like minded folk!
Although why anyone would love inflicting that amount of pain on one’s self is a mystery to me?
At the Underground Training Station in Hoylake they don’t care who you are. When you join their gym, their main goal is to help you become fitter, leaner, healthier and satisfied with your hard work. They provide a World Class service for people who have a fitness goal, whatever that goal might be. Their expertise has taken athletes to the World stage, from the Olympics to World Cups, from League Champions to National Titles. Their one firm belief is that all humans have the potential to be athletes. And, whether you’re playing sports professionally, or have a regular day-job, you need to be able to move and move well. What they focus on is getting people fitter and stronger; fitter and stronger than previously, and fitter and stronger than you ever dreamed.
So I’ll let you know how it goes folks!?!
Because call me barking mad but I’m taking my life in my hands and going back again tonight!!

……on a spring Sunday morning?
Relax, have a lie in, read the papers etc etc….but not it would seem if your name is Jackie, Sian, Holly, young Jackie & Elizabeth.
No you would do an 11 mile cross country run challenge called ‘Tufnutz’ whilst carrying a large fence post all the way round, performing 9 mental & agility tests along the route (by the way, the dictionary definition of the word ‘agility’ is the gracefulness of a person or animal that is quick & nimble…I’m saying nothing girls, hee hee!) & dragging yourself through copious amounts of mud, mud & more mud!
But I reckon that’s what health, fitness & motivation is all about, acheiving something you thought impossible (or hadn’t thought about at all in some girls cases) & having some fun!
‘Tufnutz’ or barking mad reader, you decide! Although I think both sums them all up pretty well & as long as I’m healthy, fit enough & motivated enough throughout the next year I’ll be joining them doing it next year!
Well done girls!!!

………so seeing as I have signed up to run the Liverpool Tunnel 10k at the end of May I thought I’d strap on my running shoes and try running a 10k route round the very sunny and lovely West Kirby and Caldy.
Mapped out my run this morning with the help of www.mapmyrun.com very handy little tool, tells you exactly how far you are going to run, so you can work out your route before hand and know just how far you’re about to subject yourself too!
So I subjected myself to 10k (6 miles for those of us that work in old money!) …..boy was it hard work today, some days running seems so much harder than the time before, so I chunnered and moaned at myself for the majority of the way round & totally surprised myself by running it in 1hr 6mins……blimey I think I might be actually getting the hang of this running lark?!
There was a wee bit of walking in amongst the running but as much as you want to walk, your legs and your head win and you end up running again very soon.
So I’ve have taken the very first step to upping my mileage each week, will do 4.5miles on Wednesday with our CRAP little running club and then another 10k next weekend.
Paula Radcliffe look out!!!!……….well always best to be prepared for success! ;0)

….spring might be putting in an apperance soon, fingers crossed!
Spring is a time when thoughts start turning towards summer & holidays & having to get in to that dreaded bikini!!!
Some of the HuFuM’s have indeed already booked their summer holidays, Lordy we’re organised!
And so the thought of the bikini & generally wanting to put 2 fingers up to the fact that I will be 50 next year, hang on reader I just need a minute after saying that number out loud!…..has spurred me on to raise my level of fitness by running the odd few miles…even gone as far as forming my own running club, although I didn’t realize I was doing it?! It’s called ‘The C.R.A.P Running Club’…now before you all start complaining about the name, it actually stands for ‘Clare’s Runners and Plodders’
Running outdoors seems to have many benifits, you’re out doors experiencing the elements (so many elements to experience in Great Britian!)

…………………is getting a little lonely here, I really need you all to join in!
So in the hope that you’ll take the hint, I’m going to let you into a little secert…how to get a WordPress account so you can leave me a comment, ask a question, make a statement, tell a joke, whatever you fancy!
On this here blog page you will see further down the page on the right hand side, a section called META, in that box you will see ‘Log In’…..click on that.
That will take you through to the WordPress.com username and password log in page. Underneath the log in box you will see ‘Get A Free WordPress Account’ click on this.
You will then go through to a very simple form……think of a username ( silly or sensible) and a password, enter your email address, tick the ‘Legal Flotsam’ box. Select ‘just a user name, please’ …..Click ‘Next’
Then all you have to do is wait about 30 mins for the good people of WordPress to send you an email, click on the link that they send you and activate your account, and that as they say, that’s all there is to it!
You are now free to add your voice to the HuFuM blog.
Come on people, I dare you to have a go!
